RCMBXI Celebrates International Women’s Day
The branch celebrated International Women’s Day on March 9, 2020 with the theme “An equal world is an enabled world” in relation with the world’s annual celebration every March 8.
RCMBXI goes with Gloria Steinem, the world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist in her quotation that states “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.” Hence, the branch conducted a session wherein each female employee would share her way to womanhood.
“We held an activity that gives each woman an opportunity to share her story on her way to womanhood. This is our time to show to men that the role of women is not easy and let them realize that every woman should not be discriminated and deserves respect. After each girl shared her story, the boys gave her roses as a symbol of appreciation to all women,” OIC-Director Aerrine Marie Reyes shared.
“And so we embrace to the idea to make international women’s day a special day and do what we can to truly make a positive difference for women, hence, we get involved in empowering women. And the best way to start is from us,” Dir. Reyes added.
The branch also integrated the advocacy of Gender and Development in the enhancement seminars at Highland Banana Corp.-Toril which were held by series on February 28, 2020, March 6 and 13, 2020.
In the meantime, the schedule for the last batch which was supposedly on March 20, 2020 was suspended in view of the country’s effort to contain the Covid19 infection.
The office is also distributing brochures on Magna Carta of Women recommended by the Philippine Commission on Women to clients.
